Momentum Classroom Coordinator

The Momentum Employment Program is a community-based employment readiness and life skills development program that connects unemployed and underemployed individuals with employment opportunities through classroom training, life-coaching and networking with local agencies and business partners. Momentum is specifically designed to assist marginalized people with significant barriers to success in overcoming these barriers to gain self-sufficiency.

Position Overview

This person plays a pivotal role in shaping the atmosphere of the Momentum Classroom. They are responsible for creating a supportive environment that promotes positive growth, leveraging their interpersonal, communication, and classroom facilitation skills. The coordinator ensures effective classroom learning by coordinating guest speakers, delivering classroom instruction, and overseeing three daily classes.

Skills/Qualifications that we would like to see

(It is not necessary to possess all in order to be considered for the position)

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Services, or related field preferred.

  • At least 3 years of workforce development experience preferred.

  • Proven ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and in a collaborative environment.

  • Classroom facilitation and public speaking experience required.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proper grammar.

  • Valid Iowa driver's license required.

  • Initiative-driven and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Skilled in one-on-one interactions and group presentations.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and Google open office products.

  • Experience in employment readiness (resume writing, interviewing, image development).

  • Capable of maintaining order and de-escalating difficult situations.

Reporting

Reports to the Momentum Program Director.

Compensation & Time Commitment

The position will be full-time, salaried exempt. 8:00am to 4:30pm, daily.
